1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Area Sketcher (“the Service”), operated by Lightplane Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Area Sketcher is a free, browser-based tool that allows users to upload floor plans and images, trace areas, and calculate approximate square footage. All file processing occurs locally in your web browser. The word “upload” is used colloquially and does not imply that files are sent to or stored on our servers.

3. Measurement Disclaimer

Estimates only. All measurements generated by Area Sketcher are approximations based on user input (scaling, tracing accuracy, image quality) and may differ from actual dimensions.

Not a professional substitute. The Service is not a replacement for licensed surveying, architectural measurement, engineering analysis, or any other professional assessment.

No reliance for critical decisions. Do not rely solely on measurements from this tool for legal, financial, real-estate, insurance, or construction decisions. Always consult a qualified professional for work that requires precise measurements.

4. User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the reference dimension you set when calibrating a floor plan.
  • You must have the right to use any images or documents you load into the Service.
  • You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that could impair its operation.

5. Privacy & Data

No floor plans, images, or measurement data are sent to or stored on our servers. Project data is kept in your browser's local storage only. For details on analytics and advertising, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, code, design, and branding of Area Sketcher are the property of Lightplane Inc. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service without prior written permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lightplane Inc. and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including, without limitation, damages resulting from inaccurate measurements or reliance on the tool's output.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
